so transworld has a 4 pager on Steve Rocco and his new film
"The Man Who Souled the World"
the most telling line of the entire piece:
"By mid '98, World Industries was the biggest skateboard company on the face of the earth. And, ironically, Rocco and Rodney had become exactly what they had set out to destroy."
Rocco went on to sell World for $20,000,000
so, the question is...
Rocco
soul
soil
both |

Catalyst or douche?
There's arguements for both sides I suppose?
If we go on the merits of Big Brother alone, I say soul.

He souled in the time I remember but seeing WI and Blind in Target brings some soil with it. |

From soul to soil.
"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which" |

I suspect that "skate historians" will be arguing this question forever and ever, as there are very, very compelling cases to be made for both. There just is no "absolutely correct" answer to this one, unfortunately. |

Was it really Rocco? I always thought it was R. Mullen behind the selling. He seem to be more the serious man of business, aslike other former freestyler. Rocco did put the anarchy in the skateboarding industry, i dont think Rodney would have done that. I think Rocco wanted a way out of it and Rodney wanted to go on.*
*= Didnt see the docu. |

Without Rocco the '90s woulda been all about arena halfpipe choreography, shirtless dudes with ponytails and meth. |

rocco loved to have fun and he loved to have money, and the more money you have the more fun you can have. he won on both counts, hands down. |
