| Since being diagnosed as possibly diabetic, my whole diet has changed. I'm trying to mix things up a bit. For lunch today I had a whole wheat wrap with (2 slices) salami, (1 slice)provolone, and (3 slices)capicola. It had a dribble of Italian dressing. Capicola rules! It's very tender and spicy pork. |

| My wife works for a diabetic specialist, and my father in law is diabetic. The diets aren't really too bad and they actually help you lose weight if you're looking to do so. Good luck! Is this a recent discovery or have you known for a while? |

well, that's not good news! Does this run in your family?
A wrap is a good idea but cold cuts are very high in salt content. Turkey, chicken or tuna wraps with a lot of vegetables (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, etc.) are the best. And like my doctor told me, you can have as much salad as you like...unlimited amounts with the proper toppings. |

Yes, it runs in the family. The first week in August, I was in the hospital with pnuemonia and I was getting 4 insulin shots a day. They said that it may have been brought on by the 'roids they had been giving me. My family physician said that we'd do a test in late October/Early November. He's waiting that long to make sure all of the steroids are out of my system.
I totally changed my diet as soon as I got out of the hospital. Turkey and is what my usual lunch wraps are made out of. If I'm not eating a turkey wrap, it's tuna on multi-grain cracker.
Lots of whole grains, veggies, fruit, soup and yogurt. I just need to wash it all down with some Geritol and an Ensure.
I've been getting out and walking my dog more and was able to start skating again last week!
I already fit back into my large shirts. |
