Anyone ever come across a carousel that uses air pressured pumps instead of springs to lift the screen arms up. I just got one, really good deal, at the mo ive got it hooked up on springs, as i think the valve in the pressure unit has gone. Anyone ahd a similar problem? It' by HIX, a U.S. company, but they've stopped making this model.
Anyway, its so sick!, and also way too big for my studio, but way better than my last one, so even if i have to nock a wall down im gonna make the thing work for me.

Hix Premier? I think that's the press you are talking about. It uses a pneumatic lifter to raise the screen right?

I have heard that over time the cylinders can start to leak and are rendered useless. Did you call HIX? I bet they have the parts and you can replace them yourself.

Hix make good equipment . . .

Cheers fools gold!
I could'nt find a uk distributor, but if it comes down to it, ill call the states for sure. That's exactly what's happened, the filter is damaged and the pressure drops in a matter of hours after you repressurise it. The springs seem to work fine though.
cheers!

check out an industrial supply place. It might simply be a 'stock' pneumatic cylinder that's not proprietary to HIX mfg. I had a pneumatic device go on my truck, and it would have been big $$ to get it from Chevy, or $10 to get it from an industrial supply house.

Grainger or something is like the "walmart" of industrial supply, but I think its located in the US.

You can try emailing my service rep, his compnay is a distributor for HIX and they may have the cylinders in stock here in Canada. If you want his email I can send it to you. I bet there is someone in Europe who at least distributes the Premier presses, and I think this is a 'common' problem . . .
