| Got some uncut blanks I want to cut into some old school shapes. I have a plunge router and a hand jigsaw. Which is best? |

Hey. The jig saw will work to cut em out. Just go slow so it doesn't get that homade wavey look to them. I started with that. a band saw will do a smoother job and make it easier to cut also. Not sure about cutting with a plunge router. You'll be surprised how hard that wood is. my jig and band saw went through sloooow. I use a trim router to round the edges, then clean them up with a file and hand sanding. comes out lookin sweet as hell! good luck. It's a blast. I just finished 2 today.

Yeah im doing this aswell! What i've dont is trace the deck out on a sheet of cardboard then cut out the shape. It should be easier to bend when it comes to tracing the shape onto the uncut blank i've got. What decks are you using for templates?? Im using a Lance Mountain family deck.....

| Cut them out with the jigsaw. You will need a sander of some sort A belt sander would do fine , Round your edges off and take out any dips made by the jigsaw. This is the easiest way.If anyone is interested in taking this further e mail me and I will look at explaining more profesional ways . This will cost you money and time so if its just a hobby you are best sticking with the Jigsaw. |

| I have been switching between the Jig and the bandsaw. Both work good. They both have their pro's and cons. you've got to have a steady hand with the jigsaw or you'll be sanding your ass off afterwards. Band saws can be tricky too, until you get the hang of them. Either or works fine. I round the edges with a trim router w/ a 1/4 round bit. route both sides. It doesn't get the dips where the tail and nose start to bend up, so I use a file and hand sand those ares. They come out perfect. |

yep thats pretty much exactly what i was planning to do! 
and here's a pic of the almost finished deck next to the old one...

I am planing some one off prints for and art exibition in Wellies in december I will be setting up to print in about a month or two. |
