Seriously, does using a scoop coater make that big of differance? Currently I have been using an oversized squeegee but I have had people tell me a scoop coater Is the way to go. What do you think? |

i've coated with both ,but the scoop coater was less messy and get's less airbubbles in it, and they're not very expensive, i would'nt go back to a squeegie |

scoop coater = probably the most important shop tool.
Without it it's virtually impossible to get a even coating of emulsion on the screens. THis is important because an even level stencil will leave an even ink deposit. if you have an ink deposit that is several microns thicker on one side of the screen, you will get thicker ink deposits in that area (=ing longer flash and cure times, for UV ink its the differece between cure and no cure) a good scoop coater will also let you put a thicker coat of emulsion on the mesh (EOM) and when using higher mesh counts you can increase the ink deposit by having a thicker stencil. THis will let you print bright white ink on black shirts with meshes above 230 etc . . .
that and a pressure washer . . . total musts. How big are your screens again? I have a few coaters that are too small that I migth be able to send to you if they will fit. |

when i got my first scoop caoter for around 15 bucks. i was saying" damn this was this easy? shit."
i wont go back to a sqeegee. ever.
its cleaner, faster, saves emulsion, and WAY more consistant. especially if you dont have a light table. your burn times will be easier to dial in to perfection. |
