Does it stretch easier? Sure seems like it. I find it easier to print the edges of boards without applying the usuall amount of tweaking. Also, the screen to be a little tighter. The stuff I have is white, so exposure times are about 1/4 to 1/3 less than my other screens which have yellow mesh (rayon? I don't know. i used to call it all nylon as a generic term, but that's not the case) I recently had to print something with one of my non-nylon screens and I felt I was going back in time.
What's new? Not much. Had a moderately successful tip to tail job. I don't have the dimesions (or frame design) nailed yet. Next one will be cord stretched I think. I saw your tilt rig. Have you used it yet? I've got the outside frame built for a tilt rig, and the extra hinge pieces on standby, just waiting for a new screen tobe stretched to ty it out.
Skinny- you owe me a banner ad! it's for your own good damnit! |

Skinny, are they using a flah dryer to set up inks? I wonder if you can let them all air dry and then heat after all colors have been applied.
As far as I can tell, without aqua lube added, the 9500 does begin to setup by airdrying. The fact is it has to have a color set, therefor yes it needs a flash with a heat gun. I can get it completely dry by a 2-3 second flash, combined by airdrying between colors.
2700 series is great except for the limited amount of colors. That's been my biggest beef, well that and the price. How do they compare on price?
Thats why I even looked into it, the colors. The 9500 is...get this around 9.00 a pint. WATER wash no screenwash.
cool. |

I haven't had to use screen wash with my 2700 stuff, just water and one of those semi scrubby sponges used for dishwashing. The ink stains the screens, but it always comes out. Of course my print runs are small, 25 pieces max and that's rare. What does the screenwash do? |

I put it in a spraybottle, and dilute it.
I coat the screen after a run, then wait.
It releases all the 2700 colors from the surface and the mesh.
It is not needed every run, but I do it anyway.
Also when reclaiming screens, after pressure washing the emulsion out. I spray the screen down and let it sit. Then I get all of that out with liquid laundry detergent. They come clean.
The 9500 only needs water. |

Oh oh. I just read in the 9500 sereis spec sheet that nylon mesh should not be used with water based inks.
Also on the 9500, the curing recommendations, i think that's only becasue it's meant to be printed on textiles so it needs to be cured to prevent washing out. |
