The guys at work think I'm a loon for spending countless $$ and time on old sk8 boards and really had a blast when I brought in a beaten caster inouye for stripping one day. Even though they could hardly believe the final product, I want to give them an idea (besides what I say) the value of one of these boards.. even when restored. Care to help me out with some estimates??

Thanks... no prob on the est.. holds more personal value than dollar value.. but still like to show them.. my opinion is it's worth more than a new wood prototype/reissue.

Wow....nice job Pass....

I think personal value on these will be far more than dollar value....

but in my personal opinion... I might rate these close the Repro's that economy put out...

I took my to the OSSJII, and layed it next to Ed Economy's repro... and you couldn't tell the difference...

Only difference was.... mine is the real deal... I have the fiberglass inlay to prove it...

Personally If I was to sell mine...I prob wouldn't go anything under 200 bucks... now if its worth that much to anyone else... no one will prob ever know...since I don't ever plan on selling..

Good Job Pass....cool to see another refurbed Caster....

Here are my two Caster Refurbs:

This will be the next one when I get some spare time...

Nice!!

I'd go 300.00 or more for it!! where did you get the stickers for the bottom?

Still looking for Variflex Eric Grisham 2nd model stickers for the bottom of a white and blue concave.

For the 2 casters that I did.... everything is hand painted... except the tracker sticker on the Inouye...

the Gyro, and Caster on the tail is hand painted...

It was harder to find the stickers than painting them myself...

Thanks br.. of course your resto/info was very helpfull.. I agree, more personal value than $ value..especially since I wanted one since "back in the day".. I got a hold of some original decals (caster, IPS, etc) from tony and made some color copies..if I ever get around to color seperation and printing I'll send ya some of the repros if you like.

Pass - Killer job. I'm all for breathing life into something that's that thrashed. I'd definitely think it was worth at least $300 to a fan.

George - I would think the only difference between your hand painted version and Ed E's silkscreened ones is that the thickness/eveness of the silkscreened is more consistant. Whould have been cool if Wally and Ed could have added the Fiber layer and actually made those things skateable.

You might be surprised...

Well maybe not...

The paints I used had good smooth coverage with little application... some of the colors were almost like a Marker...so they spread thinly and kinda soaked into the grain a bit...while still maintaining a good coverage...

But the paint on both of the boards really did come out pretty even....The red Strople better than the Inouye...

Even on some of the parts where I may have strayed a bit..or had slight over-run... It still looked like a typical screen type over-run...

But I was surprised...because I originally chose a slightly darker color for the Inouye graphics I used...

and when I set the deck next to Ed's... they were the same darkness...

I asked Ed about this... he said that his colors were original colors, as far as darkness etc...

Now the boards that I modeled my graphix after...were quite a bit lighter than the color I used... I suppose it could be due to weathering, or something...

But I still maintain that the original graphics are a lighter blue than mine...

anyways... they were fun projects... cant wait til I get the time to do the other Strople...
