are you just starting out or have you printed before
what will be printing...
the problem with cheap equipment is it's cheap
it's hard as hell to learn what to do right if your equipment sucks

it's like when you are a kid and you want a board and your parnets get you some walmart shit....
looks like it might work, but just sucks ass....and you can't learn to do anything....
save a little cash there are some really good entry level presses for just a few hundred more.

I got a metal hobby press years ago on ebay, it wouldn;t hold registration beyond 3 colours, but it was a few hundred bucks and it touaght me multicolour work. Unless you can afford a table top Vastex or R,Jennings press, then at least try to find something that has springs and is made out of metal. get metal screens and 2 colours should be too hard, then if you like it you can get a professional press and everythign is so much easier

well like I said if you are learning it can suck to have a cheap press
I think you might almost be better off with a pair of jiffy clamps
at least they hold register. and cost about 20.00

why is it better to have springs?

is $350 shipped good for a metal press with springs?

No real reason for springs, I have just seen presses that use magnets to hold up the screen and I am skeptical that they will accomidate large screens.

there is a relationship between cost and qualityof screen printing presses, $350 probably guarentees that the press will be pretty budget. There are presses on ebay that are table top 6 colour 1 station presses, those are garbage, a true 6 colour press is around 7'-8' wide because it needs to accomidate larger screens for shirts, those table top ones will only take screens that are maybe 12" wide, thus limiting your print area to around 6" wide (measure in 3"-4" from the inside of the frame for image size). The may you can go on a table top in my opinion is 4 colours, and even that limits your size, they also have a thendancy to tip over when fully loaded with screens, inks and squeegees. If you are only going to do 1 colour, buy jiffy hinges, if you want multi colour options you have to accept that you will buy the $350 press, and in a year sell it for something that can do everything that the hobby press can't (like micro registration, off contact, tilt and levelling and all that fine stuff) A better bet would be a vastex table top, I believe they can be upgraded from 2 colour to 4 or 6 in the end, so it's a good deal.

I have the vastex and it's amazing
you can actually upgrade it to 10 color 10 station now...
but it's 2000.00 to start as 4 color 1 station...

I also have an awt econo tex
it was about 650
I did a whole lot of business on that baby...
but it has no micros and can be a mean little bitch...
but it's damn reliable as long as you're patient
