hey,
I agree with Mark on this one. You need a quiver of wheels.
The BDS DubCOns are THE BEST all-around wheel out.
(the Ultra-Thane formula was a tremendous improvement
for an already outstanding wheel)
We've ridden them on all kinds of terrain. Where they excell
is in wide open carving surf/skate type parks where you
need good speed retention, they roll for DAYS!!!(lots of mass)
Since you're going to be doing ramp riding, maybe the
MiniDubs would be a good choice?(62mm)
The new Black Death Shogo wheels are similar in performance
to the DubCons; I've really been liking mine so far.
Shitbird Shitfires are THE wheel for vert situations! They are
seriously fast!!! I like the 63mm size of the Shitfires 'cause
they have a more "linear" acceleration than a smaller wheel.
60mm(and below) wheels seem "whizzy" to me when accelerating.
But, based on PacHEss' reviews, I'm tempted to give the
60mm Inouye wheels a try.
There's a lot of great wheels out there; ask around.
And don't be a cheap-ass when it comes to your bearings...get a
set of Rockin' Ron's Rockets. THE BEST bearings for the $.

I can't compete with Chris Olden's beta testing, but I can say I love my 100A Dubcons. I've ridden the OG Shitfires, Bowl Bomber SPFs, Spitfire Classics, and a variety of others. I love the Dubcons on my 12" BDS, they have incredible feel, grip, and good speed. I can also get them to slide/release when I want to. On my 10" wide decks, I ride the Bowl Bomber SPFs and OG Shitfires. The Dubcons feel the best on coping. The rounded conicles engage and disengage so smoothly that you'll never hangup. Just make sure you take into consideration that they add like and inch-and-a-half to your axle width, whereas the others I've named fit pretty flush. |

You WILL NOT be disappointed with BDS Black Deaths, or any of the BDS minis, dubs or shogos.
The only wheels I ride. |

Ridding a Skaterbuilt 12" Pig with Mini-Dubcons (97a), Rockin Ron's Ceramic's, and a set of Tracker 219 Darts.
Fast as heel, grips when you want, slides when you want. Love the setup!
I've riden Powel SPF's, Shitbird's 63.5's, and a couple other mentioned here. Love all of them, can't say the Mini's are better, but they sure work well on this setup! |
