This I ahve always been wondering about, I see alot of watches- lighters etc. being offered on EBAY all the time. Im aware that those are most likely bootlegs. Nothing that pisses me off or anything, I actually think its kinda of a cool thing to have on your wall or something, what I wanna get comments on is this: what if shirts are getting reprinted like smaller and defunct companies like PLAN B - 101 or something like IRON CROSS or ASSAULT, would that piss people off??? I personally would love to make an IRON CROSS SKATEBOARDS shirt, because of the fact it was a cool company and chances are to find a shirt is close to zero. so if something like 25 or 50 shirts were made and if people would be interested they could be offered to whoever that would like to have one from this site. Anyone give me feedback on this positive/dirt whatever.
This is just a thought I have had for sometime.
Henrik

Watches sound cool, I've checked out the lighters on ebay, they "look" to be a cheap zippo type with a sticker stuck on the front, kind of cheez.. Good idea though, if only Zippo themselves would make them... I'd be interested in reprinted santacruz shirts, I'm sure you'd make a killing with roskopps/ect... One with a roskopp small target on the front and a big one on the back would be sweet.

Myself, I get annoyed having to wade through all the garbage on ebay - you can never filter out all of the crap so I give it a Thumbs down. I'd rather see the actual decks and T-shirts reissued (accuratly) by the major skate companies.
As for others doing it, we get into the whole Copyright argument. If it was for yourself go for it. But I wouldn't advise a large manufacture run.

Well, Im torn. I love the old school graphics and things on t shirts and would love to see them reprinted.Besides most of the companies are out of business anyway right?
On the other hand, what if the companies are out of business but there is someone still holding a copyright?
If you sold these items you would need to sell a sticker or soemthign for the bid price and give away the t shirt.you would ask for the price of the t shirt for the sticker of course and make sure it is known that the shirt is a knock off.
I have thought about having some old school graphics copied and screen printed myself, especially the tommy guerrero sword and flames. I would print 20 differnt colors of that sucker and wear a differnt one just about evry day- haha! |

I know theres a copyright on atleast the bigger companies, plans were at least doing a few shirts for myself and a few friends on IRON CROSS and ASSAULT, maybe a few more, these companies were very shortlived, unlike someone like PP or SC where you can still manage to find alot of their shirts and stuff, the point were from my side to maybe do a print of their logos on a t-shirt or something, nothing major,no reason to get in trouble with eg. SANTA CRUZ who is still a player in the skateboard market.
Ofcourse Ill rather see the companies do reprints on their stuff, however chances are proberly very bad on that subject. I might do a print of the IRON CROSS logo, but I think Ill only do very few fior myself and a very few other people, just to avoid a fuzz on it or to see them eventually end up somewhere like EBAY, and all hell will break loose

That's a good idea Woody... However, in-so-far-as US law, there is some previous case law regarding such a thing that was not benificial to the defendents in the case. The courts rules such a thing is tantemount to selling both product A and freebie A as a single commodity thus infringing on copyright.
That said, if you ( or Henrik) were to pump out a dozen T-shirts I wouldn't be too concerned. Those selling bootleg concert/band T-shirts have rarely been prosecuted and are producing their knock-offs in the thousands... of course that's a different case entirely seeing as you would, in most cases, not be competing with the inactive copyright holder. |

A good silkscreen is not too difficult to do if you have someone that can burn the screen.

this is Ron. i think it would be wrong to make huge profits off these shirts but they are cool. i have a Vision gonz remake ripoff t and wear it proud. i can see the point of a company not liking this because it can look like stealing but i dont mind sporting a remake. i also have the Jason Lee Skull ripoff sweatshirt--i wear it too. Henrik i would take a iron cross t if you make them.later Ron |

Think about this,
didnt H street reproduce a deck graphic amazingly like that of gator rogowski's after he went in jail?
doesnt muskas board graphics look fairly similar to hosoi's graphics now that he is in jail?
makes you wonder if anyone is going to have hard feelings over this sort of thing once they are out of jail
I agree, making these shirts to make profit would be bad. If i contracted someone to make shirts like the old repros I would probably just sell them at cost to friends of mine. |
