hey,
I couldn't figure out where to post my review of Khiro's new
wedges...so I figured here was as good as any. Definitely
check these out, a very cool product!(EVEN if you don't
race slalom...LOL!!!)
Bob Hinrichs at Khiro has struck again! His latest product is the line
of "Angled Wedge Rail Risers"; pairs of "rail"-style wedges in varying
degrees of angle.
Instead of a solid wedge, there are two wedges(similar to rails for your
decks) in a set; they are available in 1,2,3,4,5,7,10 &15 degrees of angle.
The "rails" are made of hard plastic like the other riser pads from Khiro.
(I don't know if they're the same formula as Khiro's other risers, maybe Bob
can clear that up) The multiple degrees of wedge allow you to really dial in
how much wedge you want/need.
My first set-up to receive the new wedges is a BDS Long Pig. I took off my
junky "micro-wedges"(made from Dooks plastic risers) and put on a set of
the 1 degree Khiros in back and a set of the 2 degree wedges in front.(on top
of a "standard" Khiro wedge riser) The second deck I "re-tooled" was my
old Deathbox Wentzle Ruml that I use for slalom. With Indy 101's and good
wedging I was able to make this deck work for running cones out in front of the
house.
A nice thing about the "rail wedges" is that they support the baseplate
for it's entire length; my "micro-wedges" only supported at the back, so when
I tightened the nuts down, the riser pads tended to flex a little, changing the
angle. With the "rail style" wedges this doesn't happen. This was most apparent
with my D-box Ruml deck, on which I had the front truck _seriously_ wedged.
Although I'm not a slalom racer, I can see that these are going to be an excellent
addition to a slalom racer's kit! And, for the pool/pipe/park skaters who maybe don't
want quite as severe of an angle as a regular wedge riser provides, the 1-5 degree
wedges will be great for getting a better turning radius on your decks.
Bob told me that he expects these to be to retailers VERY soon. They will come as
a "kit" like the Khiro Bushing kits.
Definitely another winner from Bob H. at Khiro!

I really wonder why they didn't do a complete wedge for these. |

hey Mark,
I don't know. When I talked to Bob, I didn't ask him.
Apparently, Dave H. and Richie C. put these things
through the paces for a few months to arrive at the
finished product. Maybe cost of manufacturing?

I hope they're offering these in kits, otherwise it's going to be a nightmare stocking all the different sizes.
Time to e-mail KhiroBob... |

hey Mark,
Bob told me that they were going to be sold as
a kit like the bushing kits.
