I bought a deck of the bay, but the seller didnt say that it had grip tape installed on it in the item description.

Is there anyway of removing it without wrecking the finish and leaving a sticky surface for years to come? or am i stuffed?

Can anyone help?

Use a blow dryer to peel it off, check art of skateboarding to see what it says about the goo, I can't remember off the top of my head.

if you do it without heating it up and just pull it off. it wont leave any sticky shit, but im not sure about th e finish, if it is stained then it shouldnt make a difference, i dont know about screened/painted tho. i would just peel it off, no heat, just be careful.

That's not always true. I degripped a board a few weeks ago with my hands only, and there was a ton of grip residue left. Not to mention my fingers got butchered in the process.

Use Goo Gone after degripping to help get rid of the residue.

goo gone gel with a credit card for a scraper works great. Let the goo gone soak for a few minutes.

This same thing happened to me recently. The hair dryer method works for initial removal of the tape, but the residue is what was really bothering me. So i turned to the tips on Art of Skateboarding and found the answer that totally worked like a charm - peanut butter. Put some on a paper towel and just start rubbing. You can't even tell this board was ever gripped, I recommend it.
