Hopefully U guys will know what to do about this. On Dec. 2 98 I had a really bad accident. I hit a telephone pole on a luge board at 40 mph. My right femer exploded, it was replaced with a 22 inch steel-titanium rod that runs from my knee to my hip. I also did severe damage to my kidneys, bladder, intestines, liver ect. from the impact. I also tore alot of muscles in my back and shoulder and did severe spinal damage. I spent 11 days in the hospital, and 5 months in a walker. It's been over 3 years and I'm still having problems skating. My leg aND MY BACK dosen't work the same way it use to. I have problems landing simple tricks with them. I don't mind having to learn those old tricks all over again, but I'm about as frustrated as can be over them right now. Has any of u other guys had a problem similar to this? and if so how did u deal with it? Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

stivason71...
Sorry to hear about your accident -that's brutal!
I had rather nasty back surgery about a year ago and I've found that swimming is the best thing for it. Especially teaching your body how to contort again by hanging out in the deep end putting yourself in those positions.
Streching thosemuscles and teaching them new things is way easier in water -with less chance of re-injury.
Good luck amigo. |

Holy fuck... I can't say I've ever experienced anything of that proportion, but when I started back up I rode the biggest, heaviest piece of shit that I could find. Just to get my leg and ankle strength back up. Do you do any stretching before you skate? |

I don't want to sound ghoulish, but did you get that crash on video? Just wondering -I saw a spectacular crash that may have been you on OLN's Concrete Wave this week. |

Sorry I didn't get it on video, I wish I had. It was 11:45pm when I did it, and that hill is totally dark. I did get my sister to take some photo's in the hospital though. I'm bruised and swell and bloody, u can't really tell it's me too well. I got sucked into the gravel and that's what made me loss control. It was either my legs into that phone pole, or my head into a fire hydrant. I had just put my pads and helmet on for that last run also. anyhow thanks for the streching ideas guys, if you have anymore ideas let me know. thanks
