I'm new to the screen printing scene, and looking for a little help. Now I know I'm not a skate boarder myself but I enjoy watching my friends board, but this is about one of the only forums I've seen for screen printing. I'm looking to start screen printing, starting with shirts and clothes and maybe later if I can find a market for it boards. For now I'm planning on building my own screen printing setup for use with making shirts. I've done a little research and wanna see if there's anything that I seem to be missing in what I'll need. Here's what I've got so far.
-Screens
-photo emulsion
-the tool to spread the emulsion on the screen
-transparent papers to put my graphics on
-squeegies
-the ink
-a stand to put the shirt on and put the screen over
-glass for use of burning the image
-black felt to put under screen while burning
-A good light source
-oh yeah... and some shirts....
If I'm missing anything essential let me know. Thanks alot in advance.

| Honestly jiffy hinges are the best. You might want some screen cleaner and then some way to flash dry the shirts. Good luck |

What are the jiffy hinges used for?
Also for a flash dryer do you think one or two large space heaters hangin over a board would work for a flash dryer?
I'm trying to do this as cheaply as I can, and save a buck where ever I can. Although I'm not afraid to spend a lil cash if I have to. Again thanks alot for the help. |

| jiffy hinges are attached to your frame and allow you to change screens quick. An iron and parchment paper are better than the heaters. |

Thanks, I thought about that but I was worried that maybe the ink would come off onto the parchment paper. |

| Also what kinds of inks do you guys reccomend for different types of surfaces, such as shirts, and boards. Or will one ink do the trick for both? Also where woud you purchase jiffy hinges? is that somehting that you would get from a screen printing supply, or is that something I could find at a local hardware store? |

| There is an ink that is water based called nazdar 2700 p.o.p. it works for everthing. You can buy it at midwest resource group I would give you the # but I cant find it right now. You will need your screen mesh to be 156 or less monofilement. If you use nazdar inks you need to get thinner and screen wash which sucks but it will run about 100.00 for everything. As for screens ,jiffy hinges and screen supplies call c.s.t. 1-800-982-2771, www.creativescreentech.com ask for Denise. Tell them James from Reno sent you! She has the # for midwest by the way.
