just found this place today. I have been hangin' round the concrete disc site. I am 28 and just started skating again about two months ago. I have been on break for the last 13 years. I grew up in little rock, arkansas. I mostly skated street and mini ramp. They did build us a bowl in kanis park. It was awesome. THat is were I was turned on to carving. My reasons for stopping skating, pretty much the drugs. I followed the dead when I was 16 and live went astray for awhile. WHen I wqas 18 I was diagnosed with kidney failure and started dialysis. I was in san francisco then and I stayed in nor cal. I've lived here ever since. I am still on dialysis. about a year ago I realized that my medical cannibus wasn't just medical. I was abusing the medicine. this was brought on by the doctors telling me I had to stop smoking if I wanted to get a transplant. They claimed it had to do with some fungus that can give you a lung infection. I think it just had to do with federal funding. SO I quit smoking. I got a transplant that failed. They gave me an antibiotic I was allergic to and the kidney died. Now about two months ago , I decided that I had nothing left to lose and I started skating again. It is very scary for me , cause I have a higher chance of being severly injured. yet it has been the best thing for me in a long time. I have more energy and my blood pressure has gone down. It has given me a second wind so to speak. Well hope that wasn't to heavy for any of ya' just taught I needed to get it out there. hope to maybe skate with some you, I like the new san rafael pool alot.

dude, welcome to the forums! Man, your sitch sounds rough but I think you are doing whats right for you...sometimes you gotta do what you need to do to survive. If that is skating for you, may it make you stronger. Hope you enjoy your stay here.  |

best of luck to you man, i'm glad you re-found skating...like i did..(i'm 26 and first stepped on a board this past april)
btw, you said you toured with the dead for awhile...it's nice to know there's another 'head' around here other than me
i've got about 300 shows on disc, so check out my music list and pick out a few shows...i'm a little slow at burning them, but i'll get them to you
