First time at Oakdale CA skatepark. Half the boards there were old school reissues. I felt at home. Great park, I’ve learned a few new tricks.

Took a long while but things are starting to click. Stalls, 50/50’s, rock and rolls, rolling drop ins…all just stupid little mini ramp tricks but all stuff I couldn’t do a month ago. Still can’t carve for shit, but at least now at the park I can do more than drop in and kick turn.

Epic slam last night.

I was grinding up this little bank and dropping into the bowl at the top.

Pretty mellow…right?



I decided that I could grind down the bank instead of up and either ride it out to the bottom or cut in frontside. Turns out I was wrong. No idea what happened but as soon as I slid over the coping into 50/50 I was on my back. My daughter thought I was dead so it must have looked gnarly. I hate frontside blind falls.

Sore today. Learning to skate at 47 sucks sometimes.

Took a year and a half but I can almost skate now…as long as I stay healthy I’ll be doing good by summer.
