Fourth time in less than two years my back has went out while skateboarding. Bad one this time…missed a couple days of work and had to go in for a shot so I can walk. Might be time to reassess what my goals are. Wish I could find a good brace to wear to keep everything in line. Anybody else skate with a bad back? |

Yup.
Keep skating, when you stop it gets worse.
I had L5-S1 removed and 4 vertebrae and 3 discs in my neck/upper back removed and replaced with Titanium rods, a titanium plate and a stainless steel cage.
If only I could get them to fix my knees. They were injecting this stuff into them that helped a fair bit but I can't afford the $400 per shot per knee to continue with that therapy. Jeff Amett from Pearl Jam is using the same stuff—he can afford it I guess. |

Thanks for the Old Bones tip…I threw them some business.
Hopefully it works and I like to support smaller companies like that. |

Got here fast!
It’s well made and seems to have better compression than the other brace I have. Overall I’m impressed. I’ll skate with it tomorrow and see how it feels. |

compression fracture of L1 - 50 percent left
2 months ago.
cannot run, have issues lifting knee past hip height.
currently to scared to skate/surf
Contemplating Kyphoplasty but anterior part of vertebrae is trashed so not sure if its an option.
Would recommend avoiding this sort of injury, prefer a hole in the head to be honest! |

Rest. Stretch. Buy a hand held massager like the Hypervolt GO. Well worth the $$$. Cruise and chill. Come to terms with the fact that you're past your peak. Progression comes in a new flavor with O.L.D. Look at it this way, we are just getting closer to emulating our favorite Powell Peralta bones graphics. Legendary.
There is an old man sesh in our future buddy. Stay UP! |
