I’ve been skating for nearly a year with my daughter and most of the parks we’ve been to max out at 5’-6’ ramps. Today we found a park with an 8’+ deep bowl and it’s the first time I’ve dropped from that height since the 80’s if ever. Had to sac up to get past the visual of a little vert. Felt pretty good.
Since dislocating my shoulder a few years i've been slowly been getting my comfort level up again on transition. I certainly don't bounce back as quick in my 40's haha...
My recovery time sucks. Feels like I have permanent bruises on my knees, shins, and hands. I figure that’s just part of skating at my age and size...things are gonna hurt.

That’s rad you are getting back into it with your daughter.
I can only suggest that you get yourself some knee pads and a helmet if you are riding a bigger transition.....if you sketch out you can go straight to your knees and slide out rather than run out........you’ll never deliberately use your helmet but as Slob always says....’rather wear a helmet when you skate than wear diapers for the rest of your life’
