Heres something i found funny while cruising the net looking for stuff on screening and making decks. Blind is a big skateboarding supergiant, and vision is all underground and garagey. Isnt that a switch for ya? (for those who dont know, blind was created when unhappy pros left the corporate giant that was vision for something more grass-roots)

i am a bit confused, you starterd out your post with yeh right? are you disagreeing or agreeing with me? Lol. Anyway, on a similar thread I am pretty excited to see stereo making boards again, what do you think? ( I remember that whole anti vert kick too, it was the first time where us lowly gutterkidz got to feel superior to rampriders. lol, what silly notions of rivalry i subscribed to as a teen, actually thinking one style of skateboarding was any purer than any other. )

I think alot of skaters go through a stage like that. When I was just getting into it I thought vert was lame. Now Im down most versions of skating except for longboards. I dont have a problem with people who ride them, I just think my street deck is good for everything. Shredin, bombin hills, or just crusin.

Blah blah blah, im bored.

I thought like that, but i recently got into longobards on the heavy downhill side. Something about those 75mm gumballs on a big ol stick at speeds over 40 is just addictive

Hmm, never necessarily thought of a comp. like Select Dist. as "garagey". Fairly large company really. Am I wrong? Granted Select's(vision) wood sucks, but so does Blind's.

As far as the "cultural-influence" aspects, I still see both companies in a far less than flattering light.

Vert is nice cause it requires no walking. I like shooting down the mountain side every now and then myself, dodging oncoming big rigs and pissed off drivers but if you don't have a mule driver to take you to the top or to pick you up at the bottom its a bitch of a walk. Vert is nice because what goes up must come down and on the otherside...the same thing. But i guess the original comment was about the Vision/Blind thing. I remember a time when the only friggin decks i could get was a ViSiOn from the back of a Thrasher magazine. I live in eastern canada. we just got skate shops like in the past 10-12 years. And i could count them all in our province/state on one hand if i cut off 2 fingers. So i have fond Vision memories. That big box showing up on your doorstep was like x-mas in july. WHEEEEEEE
