This is sigma2chi project crow. Hopefully he wont be upset that I posted it but very proud at figuring out something that mostly can't be done. Being that there is only so many values of red that can be made before they slip into pink or salmon colors.
This took 4 attempts over all and the final deck I had to mask out parts and scrub off the print then reprint.
The original deck was ruined just from being reprint so I pulled out a prototype PS Stix piece from 5 years ago I know is bullet proof and wont warp.
To print the reds they are either translucent reds(see through) printed over various types of pink or mixed reds with orange and some small amount of white and double printed exactly over one another to make the orange reds which are literally a trick since the black dip is actually showing through.
5 types of red, 2 types of pink locked under and it had to be super clean and crisp.
(Wings) Real Red.
(Crow body) Burnt Blood Red.
(Red X's) Nearly Red.
(Outline) Blood Orange.
(Eye) Dark Orange
(Reflection) Dark yellow.
(Feather strut) Nearly Red.
Another coat of clear and 11 month wait I hope was worth it as I didn't charge more to figure it out just wanted some patience which sigma2chi graciously gave. Just like a lot of you.
I attempt to deliver something expert and sometimes I need a bit of time to pull it off.

Very cool, yet subtle on the color changes between each one.
Is using the translucent reds in your project, similar to using translucent paints when airbrushing? |
