Yeah, my foundation students love using the PS cutout or AI livetrace filters as preliminary studies for projects. It works well for painting, but especially great for colored paper cutouts. Just printout the filtered image to use as a template. And select a range of colored paper with similar values as source. Scrapbooking cardstock works best. Trace the shapes onto the paper. Cut them out, reassemble them in correct locations and glue. They like to say it's like instant art! But you still need the hand skills to make it into art. |

I believe redstain had said in an earlier thread that he DOES NOT use Livetrace etc. for his paintings.

i don't use it. ...ever. also, i don't use stencils of any type. not to diss on those who do, because there are some pretty awesome stencil artists out there. i'm just not one of them. |
