Not my fort-ay but the wife had some wine and said..."Oh Goon (yeah...she calls me that....) can totally do portraits ..... .....he'll do one of Grandpa for his 80th!!"...................Fuck me...........I felt like Shepard Fairy in that other thread .........gramma sent a pic and yeah, but no pressure, he'll open in front of everybody at the party that everyone is coming to.........I thought, well, it's not like everyone would have seen the pic I'm working from, i'll give it a shot. Then we get the invite yesterday and its the front of the invite. I think I wrapped it up last night, still have a couple of weeks to polish it up but I think it looks enough like him to not embarrass myself........

looks awesome! I can't draw people for the life of me. I can draw everything but the face for some reason. I'm envious of the skill you have.

I think that is fine art right there.

However I will point out, in the actual picture your grandfather has as certain prowess, energy, you can see it in his eye shape, the crease of his upper cantik fold how his cheek fold falls in a straight line and the angle of his jaw bone as it goes up to the ear. In the picture he looks reserved energy and in the painting he's more soft minus harsh edges that would make him appear edgy.

Outstanding!
I wouldn't touch it, but he does look leaner and meaner in the pic.

Thanks gents.....I appreciate the input and agree, the painting does lack a bit of that "edge", he has a squint that is particularly hard to capture. I redid the eyes three times but I hear ya, thank god it wasn't a chick or a baby....they got no lines to work with. I have a little time so maybe if their is something in particular I could do to get that edge back to it I could try? It's there enough to cut the mustard but I know what you guys are saying.
