i use both illustrator and corel. and prefer corel by far. i would like to suggest an alternative method to using photo emulsion and film positives. if the designs you are using are vector based spot colours, i would suggest having the separations cut out of vinyl on a plotter. the cut and weeded graphics are then placed on the screen, blockout fluid is applied over the graphics and once dry, the vinyl is pealed away leaving the print areas of the screen exposed. this method may be of interest to newbies as it eliminates the necessity purchasing photo emulsion, film positives, an exposure unit and fiddling about to figure out exposure times.
on a side note, i have been working on a screen that is hinged at both ends so that it can be laid flat for regular exposure in a vacuume exposure unit and then the angles corrected to match the board for printing. i will be trying it out next week and if i have positive results i will post the plans. |
