any fitness gurus here?
in an effort to get into some semblance of shape for this summer, i've kinda designed my own little workout routine...i got a 3-pack of those exercise bands from target to work on my upper body, plus the basic pushups and all that; i'm using a skateboard as one of those ab roller thingys, as well as the ol' standby crunches and situps; and i'm working on deep-knee bends and my balance board for my legs.
does this sound good? |

using that skateboard as a skateboard could be a good workout.
i don't mean to sound like a dick, but TGM once said to me "i'd ride my skateboard if it gave me cancer, but it happens to be good exercise, great!" ok, that's not a direct quote, but it is the jist of it. point being, why not ride your skateboard? seems to keep alot of people in shape.
just sayin'..... |

It's funny how many new fads come along to exercise your body. While crunches and other old school exercises are perfectly fine for working the abs, some new machine will always come along to supposedly do it easier or better.
The only thing that really works is sticking with your program, whatever that may be, for an extended period. (Btw, abs are unique in that they are the only muscle group that can be worked hard to exhaustion every day without needing 48 hours to recover).
Pushups and pullups are great for the upper body. Or for a cardio/muscular workout, run 200 yards, do 20 pushups, then repeat for 20 minutes or however long you last (I think that is called a military workout or something like that).
But if you are really out of shape and want to ease your way into things, go to a step or even a cinder block and step up and down for 20 to 30 minutes. Seriously. It looks dumb but it works the legs, heart and lungs really well. Take your pulse periodically to know how hard to work to stay in the target zone. I dropped more than 20 pounds doing that along with pushups and crunches one winter when I couldn't skate. |

we've been getting more and more winter over here, and with the nearest indoor park being over 100 miles away and closed for the season, my boards are sitting on my rack collecting dust |
