I am a little confused after reading a bunch of stuff on line about bushing set up, so I am seeking help here.
I have a 2007? Landyatchz Chinook, and have only ridden the set up that it came with. Now the bushings finally need replacing. I want to set it up well for my son (who has since taken over my board while I car drop him to bomb hills:)).
He is 120 pounds and is learning quickly how to slide. The set up now is a red Khiro cone on top and red Khiro barrel on board side both front and back, but I do not know the durometre.
Maybe I should just buy a kit with a variety of durometres? But what kit? Opinions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Does he like the set-up right now? If yes, and the bushings need replacing- replace 'em with the same ones. If not, use what he thinks of the set up now- and either go harder or softer.
Or get a kit, mess around, whateves.
I wouldn't have the patience for that, but I don't long-board either.

Red Khiros are 90a...I love the 90a Khiros, but I'm 170lbs or so. A lot of the longboard kids love their Venom bushings, but I'm not a fan personally.
For 120lbs, I'd guesstimate that 80 to 85a would be a good range of bushing to look at. Let me check my toolbox and see if I can find anything good. |

hmmmm, Landy Chinook! My very first deck, the one I learned to push on. Still have it but it got pimped last year.
What trucks? Bears? Mine came with the stock orange pumpkins that suck if you want to turn.
I personally do not like Khiros at all. They feel dead to me.
The Venom SHR's are good. General rule of thumb is to go a duro harder than recommended but they've got good rebound. I think you'd be much happier with those. I'd get two sets of barrels and one set of cones.
Go double barrel with a harder duro on bottom, when he's straight up bombing.
When he wants to freeride, get slideways, push a trail or something, switch the top bushing out for the cone.
Get two of these for bottom

Two of these short barrel/cone combos

SILVERFISH at checkout for discount.
That'll give you 4 barrels, 2 short cones. If you don't like 'em, let me know and I'll send you one of my Khiro kits that I don't fricking use.

8ft bed, thanks for that....both you and slavadov recommend that durametre...so maybe this is the route I am going to take and just play with the double barrels, but you love venom, and slavadov loves khiro....????
how much you want for your Khiro kit? Maybe I will play with the kit, because it seems that it is a matter of personal preference and not a science, as with most sports:) |

Oh, I won't say I love Venoms but the SHR's are good (IMO). I've got some mounted but they're way outnumbered.
My favorite bushing combos and seen most often throughout the quiver...
Purple Sabre (barrel) bottom, Orange Sabre cone top.
Purple Sabre bottom, Bones Hardcore Hard top (I used the tall bottom)
Bones HardCore Hard, top and bottom. (I'm doing a lot more of this now)
If it comes down to it, you can just pick up postage on the Khiros and we'll call it square. |

Khiros and Bones Hardcores are good in combination. Like I said, there are a LOT of fans of Venom bushings, but I just don't like 'em...simply a personal preference thing. |

I had Venoms in my Paris trucks, they were ok. Switched them out for Khiro blue barells, ....much better. |

Don't forget- sometimes the shape of a bushing is more important than durometer. Barrels are the way to go....... IMHO |
