I was wondering If anyone wears a mask when they print t-shirts? I was reading somewhere that if printing with Plasitol Inks you should always wear a mask and gloves as well as have some good ventalation. Anyone know anymore on this? Thanks!

i print with plastisol all the time. never wore a mask.

maybe when you clean the screens you might wear a mask. but as for printing, i don't think plastisol gives off any fumes. unless they are odorless...

after i put some types of jerseys or jackets through a conveyor dryer, fumes come off of those. but it's due to the chemicals in the fabric, not in the ink.

I have a small shop and don't currently use a mask. Just open up the big door for most runs. I do use gloves at times when I'm cleaning, etc. I don't when I print since I can't feel the shirt well enough.

Plastisol does release toxic fumes when cured. When working years ago for other guys, I did indeed wear a respirator. I was the only one in the entire shop, probably a 20 person shift. However, most big shops are required to vent the conveyors outside the building, reoving most, but not all of the fumes.

Yeah, I wear those cheap thin masks sometimes when printing shirts just for precaution but I have read on a few Screen printing forums that some dudes wear respirators, gloves, the whole shabang just for printing with plasitol Inks... I guess they are just being super cautious? I know things like Screen Opener and other chemicals yeah but Plasitols?
