They're trying to make more money by changing the name and losing a piece of cheese!
McDonald's Corp. said Tuesday it's moving toward replacing its hallmark dollar-menu product, the double cheeseburger, with a new burger called the McDouble, essentially the double cheeseburger, but with one slice of cheese.
Although the decision is not yet final, the recommended price of the double cheeseburger�the one with two cheese slices�would increase to $1.19, said Greg Watson, vice president of marketing for McDonald's USA. The switch stems from soaring commodity costs, which have reduced profits from the dollar menu.
The dollar price cap has given McDonald's franchisees�who operate about 85 percent of the company's 14,000 U.S. outlets�something to beef about in recent months as ingredient costs have soared.
"It's really hurt the profitability of the items on the dollar menu, even though it's driving traffic to the restaurants," said Morningstar Inc. stock analyst John Owens. Analysts have been expecting a price hike for the double cheeseburger, the company's best-selling U.S. sandwich. |

their pricing is so wack anyways.
OK so, the Double cheeseburgers are on the dollar menu, which makes no sense because a single cheeseburger is 1.09 or something. is the burger patty marked up so much on everything else they can just hook and extra one up for a loss of 10 cents? maybe they use "The Big One" meat with shit in it to cut the extra cost.
who knows but another thing that really pisses me off about their breakfast is the dollar menu. awesome,you can get a sausage mcmuffin with no egg for $1. a regular with-egg sausage mcmuffin is like 1.80 by itself, so the egg is 80 cents? eh reasonable i guess but a sausage McGriddle with egg is a little more than that i think. so how can they sell the same thing, without egg for $1 as well? are they ripping you off every time you get a regular mcgriddle with egg? wtf mcdonalds? (BTW if you were curious "Apple Dippers" is 5 apple wedges in a bag for a dollar.)
Also on the dollar menu is "2 apple pies". this is a super deal.. TWO pies for a dollar. but the downside is if you only want one you cant get it. so, get this. they also have the hashbrown on the dollar menu. the one that seems to be just thrown in as a bonus on the value meals (which is another math mind fuck i dont want to go into now) but for some fucked up reason, this deep fried piece of shit costs 1.29 or something. First of all, why put it on the DOLLAR menu if it costs more than a dollar.. and secondly, why the fuck does that piece of crap cost more than a dollar? it seems like it should only cost 49 cents or something. if thats not a scam and a half to coax you into getting the value meal i dont know.... so, back to the pies. sometimes i have coffee already and dont want the value meal and to save money i get the $1 mcgriddle but still feel like i should have the hashbrowns, but i cant because i'm morally opposed to paying that much for it. so i opt for the pies but really only want one and end up feeling like a fat ass when i open the 2nd pie box and shove it into my face. |

Yep. It's cheaper to get the breffist value meal and throw the coffee away (or back through the drive-thru window--whichever you prefer...) than to just order your sandwich and an accompanying hash brown.
I went to a different McDump's the other day than the one I typically go to. The one I went to has always been really weird--lots of signs telling you what you can and can't do. Substitutions that are and aren't acceptable (Jacbli would be fucked trying to con his way into his Ghetto Mac), condiment allotments, sauce apportionings (more than one sauce per 6 McNuggets costs an additional $0.25), the need to have a valid ID if you're charging an order more than $25, and there are probably others that I've forgotten. It's a real clusterfuck, and obviously managed or owned by a real Type A, need for authority, rule-following asshole.
I stopped by for some breffist at about 9:50, and ordered two Egg McMuffin meals with coffee. It cost me $9.39!
I understand jacking the prices at airports, or in big cities, or at certain unusual locations or whatever, but this is just plain old suburbs. At my usual McDumps, the same thing would have cost me roughly $6 or $6.50. The real pisser was that it was too close to lunch for me to tell them to fuck off and just go to the other one.
I'm still pissed. I'm never going back to that one again, and if every McDump's has bumped their prices that drastically, I'm never eating there again--especially in light of this stupid adhesive-free Monopoly board they've now got.

We just finished an unhealthy yet delicious McDump's breffist from our usual location.
My bill came to $11.52, and if you'll recall, I paid $9.39 for two McMuffin meals earlier this week.
At our usual location (1.5 miles from the gouger) for an extra $2.13, in addition to the exact same two McMuffin meals, I received a medium Sprite, two more Egg McMuffins, and one more hash brown. |

| We stopped at the mcdonalds right outside the grand canyon, dollar menu my ass, more like five dollar menu, seriously a regular cheesburger was like $3.50. all the meals were $8-10+ |
