don't have it here in portland but I used to have dreams about it constantly (until I went to visit the folks in texas this summer).
my 3 year old son loves any damn cheeseburger you throw in front of him. this recent whatburger trip sucked. he wouldn't eat anything!!! soooo salty!! kinda ruined my take on em. i wanna give a shout out to them anyway. still a lot better than the shit we have around here..

The whataburgers around here ROCK!
At 3am, the drive-thru line is around the block. |

the unfortunate thing about Whataburger is the inconsistency from location to location..sometimes the burgers and fries are some of the best fucking burgers youve ever had while other times they suck balls.
theres one right up the street and its the same story..one day excellent..the next day not-so-good.
when i hit it on a good day i love it.
since all(or most anyways)of you CA dudes seem to rave about In-And_out i wanna try that sometime and see if it lives up to the hype or will i say its complete and utter tripe. |

It may not be the best you've had, but you'll like it. |

I've only had it a few times and the experiences widely varied. The first time out, it should have been called Mustardburger. Subsequent visits where they're told to ease back on the 'tard have been better.
I commend their cutting edge approach to the ketchup packet. I've been wondering for decades why more places don't do that. Same goes for the styrofoam cup and the rat-turd ice. Each is a hallmark of efficiency (although I don't know whether the styrofoam is easier or harder to recycle than a thin plastic cup).
My local Wendy's usually gives me two packets when I ask for a big handful. I then ask for more, and they give me two more. I then say something to the effect of come on, a big handful please, which means they may give me as many as four more. Depending on how annoyed I am by this point, I'll either resign myself to having to mix warm packet ketchup with cold refrigerator ketchup once I get home (and swear to myself that this is the time I'm finally going to call the corporate headquarters about this foolishness, but I never do...) or I'll keep asking for more until I've got at least eight packets.
I usually have two Biggie orders of fries in my bag, and their first instinct is that one packet per order equates to a large amount. It's like the window attendant is being paid by how much ketchup is left over after their shift of something.
Amazing. This is probably why those kids on YouTube threw their drinks in through the drive-thru window. |

The only time I ever stopped at one, everyone in my car was sick by the time we made it back to town. Tasted great, but didn't stay with us long enough. |

@TGM
I can't believe you enjoy Wendy's fries. They have to be the WORST damn fries I've ever had. ALWAYS soggy (and usually cold too). Blech. |

A cool thing about In and Out is they seem to hire only cute girls. They're only about a third of my age, but oh so nice to look at. And the food is pretty good. The grilled onions are great. |
