it's helped all of us out! ^_^
i wouldn't have let anybody else do it for me on that little experience, trust me!
None of the following is meant to be mean spirited or hostile. It IS, however, very heart felt on my part.
That's no excuse for him to tackle that job. He has no business doing a piece that size or that involved, on that part of the body. Period. This is the problem with the PROFESSION of tattooing...too many people not being taught how to do a nice, clean, solid, simple tattoo. A true craftsman thinks about his customer's needs and knows his own limits. Oh well....there's gonna be alot of cover up business in this guys area.....
P.S. I find it hard to believe this guy is "swiftly becoming one of Edmonton's top tattoo artists." If that's the case...maybe it's time for a road trip? |

no no no, that artist is my best friend. i love this tattoo! this is some more of his work (i wanted my tattoo to look like this, all sketchy. it's not conventional. i realize that. here's some more of dean's art:
this is the tattoo i wanted, and my friend inked it exactly how i wanted it. my best friend was there with me and he had a lot of say in it. so anyways, i understand there will be people who don't like it, but i don't care. it's an extremely important collaboration to me and i adore it.
also, we don't live in edmonton anymore. we drove 12 hours either way TWICE...not just to get the tattoo done, but it was scheduled long before the road trip each time. |

seriously...im with barnett and jkelly. you (the artist)have a moral obligation to look at your skill level and decide whether or not u should be tackling a piece like that . the outline is sketchy and the shading...well. man...jkelly is right if your happy thats what matters most but i hope your acceptance of his work isnt giving him some false hope and delusions of grandeur that might let him loose on someone that may not be so lenient with his skill level. |

Definitely not what i expected to read on an S&B thread but Jay handled it right, said his piece, so i will stay quiet as well.
It was done in a shop not a kitchen table, and i am guessing all safety practices were up to par, so it's what she wanted and she's happy.
