Hi Guys.
Im just super exited about our new playground. We are a group of guys who was skating together way back in the days. Suddently everybody felt the urge to take their boards out of the closet, and start scredding again. Now we have been skating together for about a year.
Couple of months ago, we got the oppurtunity to build a ramp in a warehouse on the docks. The warehouse is surposed to host some sort of hybrid between art and technology. A buddy of mine had the idea to make a miniramp into a computer-game. The citycouncil who is supporting this place thought it was a fantastic idea, and gave us some cash to get us started. Anyway - to make a long story short, its fucking wicked.
There is a projector on the ramp, which projects some objects ( icons from oldschool slotmachines ) down on the ramp. Then there is a tracking-device which tracks your possition on the ramp. Its all connected to a computer which runs your scores. yWhile ou skate the miniramp, you collect the icons and get points. The icons you collect dissapear, and another will pop up when you hit the transition again.
Pretty hard to explain with my crappy english, but it sure is fucking fun.
Check pics and link below. The link is to our blogsite - its in danish but you'll get the idea. Their is a small videoclip on the site as well - its from the local tv. In the end of the clip, you can see the skategame up and running.

This is very cool.
I think the biggest take-away is the idea of getting some space in an artist loft. Creative thinking there. There are a lot of towns with artist lofts in old mills and factories.
How do the artist neighbors deal with all the noise you guys make?
Great going!
Thx,

Noise is no problem at all. The warehouse is divided in 2 halfs. The ramp is the only "instalation" in one of them. Later on there will be build a scene for music concerts (strictly underground) in the same part of the warehouse. The spot is ours for at least 4 years.
Fucking awsome. |
