I finally have a board coming which means that I no longer have to drive to OC to go surfing since before Id borrow my friends board.

Apparantly there are alot of guys who surf from SD on this board.

where are the good surf spots?

Im a beginner on a longboard, so Id rather go someplace that isnt packed with guys because when its packed I just feel in the way and it bums me out.

Thanks for the info

head south. I found mex a great place to flounder, not near as crowded. Bring a tent and camp overnight, you'll have a blast.

It's been years, but Carlsbad in the AM always had cool guys (If anyone) - but the rocks tend to hide stingrays (From experience). The break was always good on normal days. I also learned on Solana beach? But that was even longer ago.

It's funny all the attitute that gets thrown around in LA. San Diego is not the same at all. Especially if you're sporting a long board. Just find another and you're up and riding.

Yeah, I had a surf/camping trip at the campgrounds off PCH in Carlsbad last year, and I really liked the break there.

I was thinking more about the Pacific Beach/Ocean Beach area since thats relativly close to me.

I guess I'll just have to check out a few spots until I find one I like.

I lived in S Mission for a year in college. The north jetty offers up some nice lefts, but a pack looms. Try up the beach as far north as the Catamaran area, I remember it having some nice peaks with far less people than the jetty or Pacific.

Who knows, that seems like a lifetime ago

Now stuck in LA (happily) and looking forward to visting my longboard, oh yeah and my buddy, in Ventura this summer.

.
Happy wave hunting.

Hey dude, try the carlsbad state beach directly off of palomar airport road, pretty mellow, fun break. The most mellow zone is at san onofre at the trails. easy soft break, never really populated.....
