| I am looking to build maybe an 8 ft tall ramp, with like 8 ft transitions... how much flat would be do-able? I am just trying to keep it within reason, as I am limited on space in my yard as most peeps are... |

If you're limited to space, why not go a little shorter? An 8' with 8' transitions seems a little quick. Not only that but the taller you go, the wider you'll have to go to.
but then again, I'm a mini ramp guy. I think a 6' with 8' tranny would be better.

| My 1st ramp was 8 feet tall with 8 feet trannys and 8 feet of flat. Definately too tight and fast. We ended up cutting it down to 4 feet on one side and 5 feet on the other side and it was alot funner. A buddy of mine at the time had the same but 6 1/2 feet tall both sides, it was good too, but in hind sites I think it would've been better with a couple more feet of flat. |

I'm thinking one side of my ramp 7 ft. transition 5 feet high with steel coping, 12 ft. of flat . The other wall, round with pool coping, 6.5 ft. trannies 5 ft. tall.
20 ft. wide
Baltic birch.
The compromise ,cause I can't afford a vert ramp. |

| With 8 foot trannies, you need a minimum of 10 feet of flat, 12 feet actually. If you don't have room for that much flat, scale down the trannies, otherwise, you'll hate it. |

| 8 foot tranny is good but you have to have at least 16 feet of flat. Our first ramp was 8 high 8 tranny 12 feet wide 16 of flat. It was a fun ramp. |

If you got neighbors, you might want to keep it shorter.
They may bitch, neighbors suck. |

Do not make it shorter. The world needs more vert ramps.
An 8' tranny up to vert is a fun ramp. I would recommend 16' of flat with 14' being the minimum.
If you feel it's too tall after it's built you can always cut it down into a mini ramp.
