Just got off the hone w/Bristol's Rec Director: 17,000 SF cast in place, design-build presently out to bid to Team Pain, Breaking Ground, Blue Stone, Grindline ... city will be making selection shortly and hopes to have to job done by September. Stoked.
Connecticut will be the skate-Mecca of the northeast. Major props to a skater from Bristol named Joe Iacovelli who has been spearheading this effort for years. |

They've been fighting the political battles for a skatepark in Bristol for 7+ years. Not likely it will get the kabosh at this point.
And keep in mind, only one guy made a comment about the ice rink vs. skatepark in Stamford. Just one fruity icebooter. Don't let him rent any space in your head, Flash. He's a kook that attracted an angry response in the local paper. If there were folks backing him up we'd have heard from them by now, as well. And we haven't. |

cool!
i'm not even from CT but that article you posted just pissed me off.
i made me even more mad that i've actually gotten a trespassing ticket for skating in a skatepark and i'm a grown ass man.
anyway, looks like CT is going to be the east coast skate mecca...well as far as parks go. with all the parks opening, i might consider moving out of the city. |

Hal you've got fast fingers. You work in Bristol. And you're nosey, too! You gotta be stoked.
I called Sam but he hasn't called me back.
Stamford is a little over 10,000 SF. This is going to be the big one.
Gotta stock up on calcium & glucosamine. |

You know Billy, I was really beginning to think that my skate career was coming to an end. With my kids and work, I have so little free time now. All the good parks are big driving distances for me in Avon. But I now have renewed hope!!! 17,000 ft. skatepark within 15 minutes!!! Hell yeah!!! |

Wow, I did not know Joe I was behind the park. He is quite active in the slalom world, and now he's behind this. I've seen him post here, but it's been a while. Great stuff, Joe! |
