If so how did it work out for you in the end, did they pay up or what? I just flew with a virgin Lib-Tech I picked up and I'll be damned if they didn't break the damned thing. As of now I have contacted the airline (United) and have to wait it out for a claims agent to contact me. Any advice on how to get reimbursed for the damage from these guys? The board was new, had 5 rides on it in the past month however it was in new condition when I flew

Sorry no answer to your question.
I'm interested tho cause I'm taking a trip overseas soon and I planned on taking a set up (coincidentally a LibTec  )
So I'm wondering if it's gonna make it there and back and not get lost or destroyed.
Also where did you get a new LibTec? I love mine but I can't find them hardly anywhere. Seen a couple but not very good selection...
I may have to go with an SMA Blackbird.
When it comes to pops I love a composite/fibreglass deck!
Light ,strong and keeps pop like crazy. |

This was the first time I flew with a board and despite using a padded bag it didn't turn out so well. I paid $85 for the baggage charge too, you'd think they would put some effort into taking care of the shit 
I picked up the Lib at a place in Washington called Northwest Snowboards. High prices but a very dope / core shop. |

not to derail but...skateboards are no prob. you have to check it in though, you can either shrink wrap it to your bags, or they have a big bag that they put it in. I usually tape shitloads of bubble wrap around the nose and tail.
A claim on any airline is just bad news_ AA lost our bags, this MAY... one bag w/ 4 OG old school boards in it! it took 3 months to get back.
they'll prob go halfers with you imo. |

Fortunately I haven't had any problems like that. Yet...

| I've never seen anything like that, nor have I had any problems in the past. Where were you flying into? I've always flown into places like salt lake and denver and stuff, places where it seems like they are used to ski/snowboard luggage. not sure if that makes any difference, or sense for that matter |

I flew from Seattle to Nashville TN, might have something to do with it. I had *planned* on hitting up a local TN ski area as soon as I hit the ground but no dice.
And yeah, despite the airlines & airports involved all blaming each other I'm not making any progress on getting paid for the damage.
Just a shitty situation I suppose, something to keep in mind for the future  |

| in the future, as added precaution, use a trick i learned in junior high from my ski coach. fill any extra room in your snowboard bag with the shirts, socks, sweaters, etc. that you are bringing. And always carry your boots, gloves, pants and goggles in a carry on bag, that way, if the airline loses your luggage, you can always demo a board and be good to go for a day or two while they find your stuff. |
