If you want a super honest dealer of DH stuff...talk to Milehigh Mark. I've followed his advice blindly a couple of times, not the least disappointed.
For all the DH/LB tech talk, Silverfish is probably the deepest fountain of info.
If you have any experience with any DH/LB equipment...let em all know what you've got or have ridden, help them help you. |

I'm researching trucks to run on a new Comet Voodoo, and I'm leaning toward Crails. My sources tell me the turn is somewhere between a "carving truck" like a randal II and a straight DH truck.
I don't know what kind of crack Slob is smoking. I have several sets of R-IIs, and they all turn pretty good. No QC problems, though I'll admit the QC has been a problem. No bent axles or breaks, and I'm not a lightweight.
The Bennett DH truck looks interesting. |

The 10" gullwing chargers are indeed sweet. |

I don't know if Comet changed the Voodoo recently, but wheel clearance is pretty poor up front. I'd stay away from Grizzlies because you're likely to get wheel bite. Crails work well, as do Holeys. |

Funny he put his trucks on a vert board.
Innovative Designs Speed Spring was also the same kind of geometry. Back in about 1975/76? |

Thats what I was thinking. I'm not gonna go real big on wheels either -- probably a 66mm ZigZag.
If you'll get some Crails in, I'll order from you. |

Alrighty then, here's what setup I'm considering.
Sector 9 Race (if I can get one)
Grizzly 1052s w/JimZ bushings (I just thought it was cool that you could flip 'em and I like the beefy 10mm axle and low price)
81A Grippins (not sure what 10mm bearings to get)
You think I'll get wheel bite with this setup?
If I can't get the S9, I was thinking maybe a PPS Hill Killer. |

It really depends what size of wheels you're running. I almost got wheel bite at 160lbs with 75mm wheels, personally 72mm |

I'm only about 10lbs. or so more than you and Grippins are 70mm.
There are a quite a few nice looking and well regarded trucks out there, but I guess it all comes down to preference. Looks like I might just have to take a stab in the dark.
S9 Race or PPS Hill Killer
Holeys, Bears, Crails, Gullwing, Tracker
81A Grippins
SiN systems bearings (?)
Aaaaaaaaaaaagh!!! I'm so confused......... |

The good news is that there is a pretty active buy/sell forum going on at Silverfish. So if you buy some trucks and decide you want to try something different, you can get most of your money back by selling them.
I've actually ridden a Voodoo with Crails briefly and I will say that the trucks did feel good and did turn better than randal dh but perhaps slightly less than the randal r2. Which is exactly how it should be since the geometry is between those two. I haven't ridden any of the Bear or Grizzly trucks though.
I keep going back and forth between wanting to just ride 215s for downhill and wanting to get some sort of fancy trucks. I have a Landyachtz DropSpeed with Randals on it and 85mm wheels and the whole thing and it's ok. But I prefer the feel of my homemade top-mount (i.e. regular skateboard) that's basically the same shape as the Sector 9 race, with 215s. I just don't know how I'll like the 215s at higher speeds because I haven't been to any fast hills lately (just 30mph or so). |
