Kick yourself in the ass for not getting involved in the design stages and advocating for companies with a solid track record in park construction.

After the fact? Convince the city to sue the fuck out of the builder if they don't come and fix their mistakes.

Too many skaters take the "it'll be better than nothing" approach and leave it up to the city heads who typically buy shit from playground equipment catalogs.

What you get stuck with is a sub-par skatepark ... and your leverage with the city has already been spent. Game over.

There is no "design-build concrete skatepark" catalog. WE are the "design-build concrete skatepark" catalog.

It was so bad, I've never ridden it.
Hell, there's not a ridable bank in it.

We had lots of meetings with the council during the design stages.

It was us against the playground lobby who argued concrete = danger/expense/permanent, modular = safe/cheap/temporary.

Guess who won.

We still skate our local curb.

North of where I live in Huntsville, they built a free concrete park. The layout is random and stupid. In front of the six stair they put three random rails to dodge. Beside the rails is a neat/weird ledge/fun box contraption. It is built on a slight slope with the quarterpipe on the uphill side. Laid out like a horseshoe with a pyramid in the middle. They recently added a "peanut" bowl. Deep, the coping sticks out more than it should, and tight as hell. I haven't tried this yet, but I think I could jump across from one side to the other except for the deep end. I took a couple of the younger skaters from the local shop there Saturday. Most of the kids were playing a game of SKATE. I started to join because it turned into who came closer to landing a trick. I know practice makes perfect, but move away from the middle of the park. No parents there, two kids had helmets, and only 10% had board controll. I will see if I can find a pic to post. It looks better than it is, but itis better than nothing at all.

Here in Port Huron, MI the public park was so bad that the nearest town(6 miles away) built there's and it is very thrashable. Nice mini and a sweet launch.

But see at the time our local park was built I was taking a "break" so to say away from Skating. But as a group we got screwed, the Sk8ter's earned all the cash for the park and the Mayor pocketed more than 1/2 the cash....
