It's been years since I really sessioned a ramp. I've dorked around on them every other year or so with a street skinny but nothing like the old days.

Anyway, I'm seeking suggestions on what makes for a good vert set-up these days. I already have all the equipment but was a little shocked at how skinny the wheels I ordered ended up being when they came in.

I looked around and saw that Navarette is killing it on vert and ordered one of his 8.6" decks but also have a 8.12" on standby.

Trucks, nothing but Thunder so I added the 147MM high's which have an 8" axle length....should be just about right.

Bearings....Bones 6's

Now the wheels, fucking T-Bones were the rage when I used to do vert riding so I was clueless in this area. Went with some 56MM Spitfire S-4's. Looks to be a choice height but damn if they are skinny as hell. Don't know how they will work out and I guess this is the area I'm looking for some advice on.

Thanks!

i usually find an 8.25 perfect on a vert ramp. you may want to go a little bit bigger if you're a bigger person and since this is your first time skating one in years a little bit bigger might do the trick.

wheels- i tend to just ride whatever is already on my board. but if you're gonna be using the board for specifically vert than i suggest about 56mm-60mm. ive talked to people that skate vert on a normal basis and they also say that skinnier wheels do work better on vert.

hope that helps!

I go with trucks that are the same width as the deck. I think the 8" axle will be too narrow for your board. I'd get some 149's and some 60mm shitfires. The Godoys are a little wider if thats a concern.

Yeah, good advice. After putting it together I did not dig the truck width on such a wide board. I have an assload of 8"s at home so should be cool if I drop down to that.

And about the Shitfires.....exactly what I'm looking into. The Spits are way too skinny

Well I dropped to an 8.2" and really like that set-up. I have a quiver of straight 8's at the house now so I'm well stocked on boards now

The problem just seems to be truck sizing, I refuse to ride Indy 9's so that pretty much slices the available stuff to nil

I got early stages of indys off e-bay. They are always on there at good prices. I think 8- 8.25 would be 139's.
