Ive been reading about people using a vacuum bag setup for making boards. Now I just want to confirm this, but is the whole vacuum method an alternative than using a hydraulic press? thanks

in the examples that I read about, they uses plywood, and another example they used on a small amount of veneers like 3-4.

Could I use this vacuum method for basic 7ply popsicle decks?

Does anyone know the total cost of a basic setup?

This is what i think:

If you calculate the pressure you can get from a "diy" vacuumpress, it's way less then what the tech.-datasheet of most glues require.

0.9BAR (13 psi) of underpressure is a lot for any vacuumpress. Knowing that the atmospere has 1BAR (14.7 psi) that is the maximum that can be achieved (correct me if i'm wrong)
Woodglues require about 5 to 8 kg/cm. That's 5 to 8 BAR or 70 to 110 psi.
Don't forget that bending the plies of wood also takes some of the force of the pressure.

It might look like a skate. And it might feel like a skate to most people who just ride it.

BUT CAN YOU MAKE A HIGH QUALITY SKATE with a vacuumpress?

Yes.

Roarrocket kits have become very popular. See the last Concrete Wave for info as www.roarrockit.com appears to be down.
