should be possible. there are press plans on the web.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-....-Squash-anything!/

the problem may be that you need to ensure uniform pressure over a reasonable size surface area. while a bottle jack delivers considerable pressure, that pressure is almost directed at a point in this particular design.

Should be possible to adapt the design to a pressing table.

we used bottle jacks for the first few years of exsistence.
i used that exact brand for awhile

these things at 20 ton rating,
do not last long, the seals blow out very quick.
that can be repaired,

but the shaft of the jacks are weak,
after just a few weeks of pressing ( all day, everyday )
the shaft will start to crush,
i could not believe it when it happened,
it actually starts to ballon out,
or mushroom around the bottom of it.

so after awhile the shaft will not go down.

we started with 6 ton jacks,
from sears or k-mart.
around 40 bucks each.
they did not last long,
moved up to 12 ton,
eventually went to 20 ton,
after they did not hold up i bought industrial strength
for around 150.00 each.

they work for a few runs,
then the above problems.

i had 1 explode one time.
the canister weld broke at the base,
oil went everywhere.
big mess. could have been very dangerous.

we would just pump them up until they would not pump anymore,
probablly went way overboard.

if you could find something with a pressure gauge you might have better luck.

then we eventually got into a real press design,
using enerpac hydraulic units.
these are 1000.00 each.

these will last forever,
designed to do this work.
made in the usa.

that is a huge thing for these pieces of equipment.
oversea hydraulics have some work to do before they will be acceptable.
