OK - I'd like to hear what works best for you guys ... I did some searches and it seems that there was no topic totally on this subject.
I just tried spraying a Krylon Crystal Clear ... it took a couple coats and then a really thick coat to get a good shiny finish. Looks good, but I feel like I put a lot of paint down to get a good result.
I saw someone brushed on a laquer ...
let's get some info on technique and brands. |

If you're using an airbrush system you can use Future Floor Wax as a clear coat. It's an acrylic floor wax that airbrushes just fine; however you need to do thin misting coats and not a thick coat because it will create Orange peel. |

you could try Nazdar 9700 Mixing/Overprint clear, it's an all purpose clear coat . .though you gotta screen print it, so that might not jive with your overall plans. |

For me, I'd rather spray something on then have to make a seperate screen just for the clear ....
Is there a better Krylon? Like a super-gloss?? |

I would say to let it cure then to reapply.
Have the decks sit for 24 to 48 hours after the first coat (proper cure time in hot/humid areas like Florida) then reapply a second coat.
You need to be careful with the paint types:
Lacquer on Enamel and Acrylic = bad news
Enamel on Acrylic = bad news
Acrylic over Lacquer and enamel should be ok.
I don't know about enamel on Lacquer though. |

shirwin williams Kem aqua water based high gloss laquer. good stuff.only bad thing is it's only sold in 5 gallon buckets and is pretty damn expensive. Works great though. I've been using it for several years now and love it. |

my friends carpentry shop got shut down for a week because of laquer vapors. Granted, you can smell the shop from a block away . . . but it keeps inspectors away from my sticker printing operation. |

bad news is that the lacquer should effect the acrylics negatively.
Too much lacquer could also seep through the deck if applied in large amounts, causing delamination and breakage.
I would go with an acrylic top coat. |

How do you apply it? Brush? Roller? |
