I'm making my move on Monday and I'm trying to figure out if there are any parks close to I 80/90 between CT and IL. I know of Whiting, but that is going to be a 'local' park for me once I'm back in the windy city.
Any suggestions? I don't want to drive more than 30 miles out of my way, each way. |

heres a couple parks that i just recently hit up on the way towards there.
FDR in philly obviously.
woodward in philly.
akron, ohio
evolution skatepark. i cant remember what town its in but its 25 minutes from akron and its indoors and its a team pain park.
try the lousville park if you get a chance. nothing will ever compare to that park's amazingness.
try grove city, ohio. a grindline park and there is NOTHING small or easy about that park.
hope that helps you. |

thanks man. louisville is way too far off the track, as are athens and grove city. but akron is right up my way and will be perfect. i'll find a cheap place to crash (any idea about camping?) with the dog and i'll be psyched. i'll hit those on day trips on weekends when i'm living back in chicago.
yeah. i'm gonna really miss stamford. |

i just crashed at a cheap hotel for a night in akron.
if you're gonna miss stamford, find grove city, ohio. its another grindline park thats better and bigger than stamford. |

Akron sucks. if you don't want to go off the beaten path at all, there's not much. Canton has evolution skatepark, built by team pain. indoor, pay. not much else right around there, that I know of in OH. if you want to skate something good in OH, hit grove city, a suburb of Columbus |

i ended up skating Kokomo and Whiting, then Burnam and Wilson, all in the space of the second day of driving. Kokomo kicks ass. super tight, super fun. suuuuuuuper gnarly. the 7am brew helped mellow the trannies and put it in the range of really fun.
i'll be back east in a year. in the meantime, i'm going to hit everything in a 6 hour radius...

It sounds like the park in Northbrook, IL might be fairly local to where you're moving as well. Be sure to hit Springfield, IL and Bloomington, IN as well as Louisville and Nashville, obviously. |
