I've been eating ribs all my life - I keep holding out hope that 1 of 3+ times I eat BBQ in a week that one may be good (that's not cooked by me)...why the fuck can a BBQ joint not cook a fucking rib. OK, Seattle isn't the hot bed for BBQ, but come on, there are plenty of joints that claim their "heritage". They should know that a good rib is top priority for most us hounds, but it always sucks and is soaking in sauce to hide it or it's taken from the fridge and warmed up. Oh yeah that's a good one...I now order dry only, then I really see the level of suck.
Recently got back from the Houston area where there is said to be good BBQ, but same shit. Same ass shit- even telling people we were writing everything down - Brisket vs Rib, microwaves and fridges...And it's getting to be a thing as I travel cross country...but it's all mediocre crap that I can do...if you've got the gear learn to use that shit or care ot use it right.
OK there was the best ever in Montgomery, TX (Near Lake Conroe) "Yo Momma's"- was told it was a "black place though". Anyway, all outskirt places - same shit (OK "Raccoon Assholes on a stick" was decent- Sam Houston Forest shack), but fuck me, keep getting bad stuff even in the "hot beds" of BBQ I've visited.
Whole issue is I just got the call from a friend leaving "Yo Momma's"..."I can smell yo momma on my hands"...I need some Pork Fat and nothing can calm the urge...shit. |

Maddy's Ribs and Blues Joint in Decatur, GA have the best ribs I've ever eaten. |

If you ever travel south to SF, find a place in Daly City called simply "Catfish 'n' Ribs". cant go wrong. |

if you like dry rub ribs you gotta come to dallas. we got a shit ton of places here. Sonny Bryans, Bakers, Spring Creek BBQ, even the right Dickey's will do you right.
Of course, i have a backyard smoker so i don't have to worry about such things.
There's a few places in Houston that have outstanding rbs as well I just can't think of any of the names off the top of my head....been a while. |
