CT Pool

In the spring of 1987, me and a couple of my skate buddies made a remarkable discovery...a damn near perfect, empty, righthand kidney pool. Pools of this sort are a dime a dozen in southern California, but here in CT it's hard to find a pool that is not made of vinyl and plastic. And if you do find a cement pool, it's usually square and unskatable. Of course we knew nothing about pool skating and this would have been the perfect opportunity to learn. However, we had a few things working against us. For starters, the pool was about 30 yards from a string of high priced condos. As we found out quickly, the condo owners didn't like us skating their pool. Sessions never lasted for more than 15-20 minutes before one of them called the management and the grounds people came to chase us away. That combined with the fact that this was a functional pool...it was only empty a couple weeks in the spring and a couple in the fall...which left us small windows of opportunity. I'd say we got about half a dozen little sessions in over the next few seasons. We were just kick-turning, trying to hit tile. I used to have some Polaroids of us going over the light. I left for college in New Hampshire in the fall of 1990 and out of lack of terrain/parks I'd quit skating by 1991.
Fast forward 20 years...I had my skate re-birth in 2003 and I've been thinking about this pool ever since. It's only about 15 minutes from my house, but for no good reason I procrastinated about checking it out. So finally, I had some extra time this morning and made it my mission to seek out this pool of my dreams. When I arrived I was ecstatic to see that the pool was still there. As you can see from the crappy cell phone pics below, it's in a somewhat state of disrepair. My guess is that this pool hasn't been operational for at least 4-5 years. I'm not sure whether the missing coping areas with the crumbling tranny are natural erosion or whether somebody took a sledge hammer to it. However, this pool is begging to be skated. With a little love, it could be a paradise for folks like us. But, at age 35 with wife, 2 kids and a mortgage, I'm not willing to make the sacrifices that would need to made in order to get this gem cleaned out, nor do I need a trespassing arrest on my record.
So, if any of you CT guys would like to go on a commando mission I'd be happy to give you directions

Haha...nope. That's chain link fencing on the edges of the photos. It's a high fence too. Not sure if I could get my fat ass over it.

There's at least an hours worth of leaves and sludge to scoop out of the deep end before any skating happens. You can't see it in the photos, but the tile reads 9" in the deep end.
