I'm going to be home in a week, and I want to throw a BBQ for my brother before he goes on his second tour in Iraq.

I have the typical stuff down like bourbon steaks, and some kick ass burgers, but I think I need to try something else.

Help me send him off in style.

Thanks in advance.

First....insomnia sucks.

Second....are you grilling (cooking over direct heat) or smoking (cooking over indirect heat, low temps, long times)?

If smoking...I might be able to help. Grilling is easy...but good. Smoking (real BBQing) takes finesse.

I'm awake...will check back later.

I would be grilling. I don't have enough patience to smoke anything.

Except maybe the reefer...

When everyone else in the house wakes up....I'll turn on some lights and look at some recipes.

In the meantime look for Steven (Stephen?) Raichlen online. He's a grill master. Or check out Foodnetwork.com. They've got some good stuff there as well.

Just smoked 10 pounds of Boston Butt...

Indirect heat in a Weber kicks rear end. Yes it took me 10 hours, but it was worth it. Did it the day before. Great way to break in my new Weber Kettle... Thanks Mom!
