use dush detergent, or go to Lowes or whatever and get a gallon of some basic cleaner/degreaser for like $6.00 |

Ajax will work to abraid your screen, although the particles are a bit too big and may cause some pinholes in youre emulsion if you don't watch it. A bar of Lava soap rubbed on a wet screen is a trick I learned from an old timer.
For degreasing I use Dawn brand dishwashing detergent. I saw them cleaning oil soaked birds in Alaska after the Exxon Valdez spill, and figured it would work for screens. I have not used anythng else since. |

The purpose of degreasing a screen is to remove all the dirt and oils from the mesh. This includes finger prints and skin oils. Any oils will prevent the emulsion from adhering properly and will be present in pinholes and breakdown on the press.
Never use any degreaser that has lanolin or perfume in it. This includes dish washing detergents which are good for putting lanolin on the dishwashers hands, but bad for screens.
The cheapest product on the market is Simple Green that is available from the local hardware store. Be sure to read the directions - it can be greatly diluted - saving you a lot of money. |

Actually, we have never had a request from anyone wanting to learn skateboard printing. We train in textile and graphic printing, which pretty much covers the screenprinting of boards as well as so much more.
I'll certainly keep you in mind if we do suddenly get some requests for a class. Or, we could put one together and see what happens! |

Bill no offense but I am sure it does not "cover" skateboard printing.
I only know of a handfull of people who know how to do it, but I know a couple hundred screen printers who think they can.
And while you are at it you would also have to teach heat transfer printing, and multi axis printing on concaved and convexed surfaces.
In fact Bill I am willing to bet YOU don't have it all down yet.
Of course, no offense intended. |
