I've noticed some boards warping while sitting on the shelf. I'm in a pretty controlled environment that does not have a big fluctuation in temp or humidity... so what's up with this? Anyone? |

im guessing that one side of the deck is subject to more heat than the other. this will cause differnet expansion and contraction rates to occure in the sides of the boards which over time produces warpage.
might be preventable by putting a shade cloth over the shelf if its sunlight which causes the problem. maybe get a thermometer and check the temps of either side of the deck, if there is a difference in temp then there is your answer |

Old has nothing to do with warping. I have some decks from the 80's that have held their shape without warping. |

Thats because the glues they used back then were super toxic. Nowadays people are concerned about babies being born with 3 eyes and extra limbs so we have to use more environmentally safe materials.
I have had board from almost every company warp on the wall of the shop. It doesnt have anything to do with age really. Its more about the environment and how the board reacts to it.
The only boards I havent had any warpage problem with is Almost/Enjoi boards. They put so much resin in between the plys its almost a big piece of plastic. |

Lighting could be an issue. I've seen track lights & high-wattage lamps warp boards before.
Here in Texas, boards may sit on the UPS truck a little too long. The temperature shock from 105 degree truck to a 73 degree shop can cause us problems. |
