Got a set of the new ACE trucks.
Found they had new design axle nuts.
Nut is the same size as deck bolts so you can still use your skate tool. They have a lip so that is alright.
But, they don't have the plastic that help lock the nut on.
I'm just wary that they will work loose and next thing I know the wheel will fly off while carving a bowl.
Does anyone have any experience riding them?

Neat design. Helps protect the bearing. Are you sure there is no nylon in them? |

Here's the story on those.
It's a jet nut, also known as a K-nut. It is a special type of hex locknut that is commonly used in the aerospace and automotive racing industries.
It has a flange on one end of the nut, the hex is smaller than a standard sized hex nut, and it is shorter than a standard hex nut. It achieves its locking action by using an elliptical offset on the un-flanged end of the nut—dimples that oppose each other on the outer edge that keep it from winding off the axle and should last much longer than the nylock variety of axle nut. |

The lip/flange sits perfectly over the speed washer.
You can see the dimples/indents on opposite sides of the nut in the photo. |
