Here's an animated panorama shot - this one includes the competition area with red ramps.

Also here are some short videos of a local American ripping up one of the clovers:

nice job mate!! As an Aussie expat based in Hong Kong, I was over there in Shangers with our man last Sunday (my first time to hit the place too), the pics have totally captured it! Hong Kong has a scene here too, plus there is also a nice new bowl over in Shenzhen (45 min ferry ride from Hong Kong). CHINA IS WHERE IT IS AT !!! On my second day there I found out there is a huge college campus going in directly across the road from SMP, so prob only a matter of time until we see a few Chinese rippers . . .

Now...here's the plan for Taiwan:

1) Extreme Sports Park in Yuanshan (極限公園): Across from Yuanshan MRT near Taipei Fine Arts Museum (台北美術館對面)

Here are some good Taiwan links:

That Shanghai park is 129,000 square feet and cost $12,350,000.00.

It's been 10 years - but I will be in Shanghai again - hoping to skate SMP this Saturday and/or Sunday.

Anyone been there recently?

Know anyone in Shanghai who skates?

Assuming all goes well - I promise to post pictures. Last trip was...kinda epic.

Cheers!

My apologies for taking so long to post pictures - but here you go. This is from my visit to SMP Skatepark in Shanghai in December 2016. I was traveling on business and had the good fortune of being able to stay in Shanghai over the weekend.

I took a cab from the center of Shanghai for about $15 (a 40 min ride). Weather was 60 degrees. Cost about $15 to skate.

Sadly - very few skaters. There was a roller blade class of 30 kids under 12. You can see that the half the park is discolored - I suppose from pollution. To be honest - the weather was great, sunny and clear while I was there. I guess they must have power-washed the other part of the park. There were some westerners but mostly just dorking around.

The place had a distinctly dystopian feel to it.

It was kinda run down for sure - but an epic place none-the-less.

Enjoy!

Entrance

Three clover leaf bowls - one with clam shells

One of my favorite bowls on the planet!

The ginourmous bowl- really for motor cycles...

The ginormous bowl, the mid-size bowl combo + some street

From the opposite side ... from left to right - mega ramp, ginormous bowl, three clover bowls, my favorite bowl ..

Far left - half-pipe bowl with over vert, the sweet mid-size bowl combo, little bit of mega bowl and mega ramp

Mega Ramp

Bowled Over-vert half-pipe

Sweet medium bowls with street in background and mega bowl on right

From standing on the mega ramp - mega ramp on left, then bowled over vert halfpipe, then street in background, sweet mid bowls for ground, mega bowl right

Street on Left, mega-bowl far background, mid-bowl center, mega-ramp top right, bowled half - 2 o'clock, quarter pipe on right

From the opposite side of the park - a stage, a field for BMX and some stands - overgrown.

Me and Wayne - a die-hard skater I met there. One of a half-dozen older locals I saw there, then another dozen of so older westerners.

Map info ..
