I'm going to be in Shanghai and Taipei in a couple of weeks and plan on bringing my board so....
1. Has anyone here ever skated Smp Skatepark -Shanghai - New Jiangwan City, , China ?
Any advice on how to get there? Locals etc? Any local contacts? I'll have one day to skate - a Sunday (pray for no rain!!!)
2. Has anyone here ever skated in Taipei? Advice on what to hit? Concrete Disciples lists 4 parks in Taiwan - I need to figure out which ones are in Taipei.
Thanks,

A little update - Five Points Skateboards totally hooked me up with someone who skated there last summer.
I now has names of local contacts (Australian and Amenrican) - and this - "The piece of paper with Chinese characters is what you give to the taxi driver to get to the skatepark. "
Two weeks and counting...
Pray for no rain the 2 days that I am in Shanghai!!!!! |

Where is Amenrica?
Glad I could help. All we ask in return is more pics of that park. Chris showed me pics from his trip and the park is amazing. He put together pics to give me a panorama of the park and it took like 13 pics and still didn't cover the whole park!!! |

God is good! I made it to Shanghai safely despite a taxi driver scam from the ariport - NO RAIN on Sunday - and I made it to SMP Skatepark.
Guys - words cannot describe how HUGE this park is. $12 million of concrete as well as metal sweetness.
Here are the first batch of pictures I'll post. I should be able to put together some panarama shots as well.
I was fortunate to meet up with about 10 other rippers from across the globe (Oz, US, Canadian, Dutch, and others). The local Chinese weren't too into tranny so we had most of the park to ourselves.
Here's the first panorama short:
This is the crew the skated that day:
Here's a nice shot of the one of the more reasonable parts of the park (6, 8, and 10 ft deep).
Here's the 100 yard long mega ramp:
A sweet little over vert section (reminds me of Cherry Hill):
Here's the wicked monsterous section - the shallow end is about as deep as Bondi's pool. The deep end is easity 14' or more. No joke - moto-x dudes ride in this thing:
This is the pipe that is tucked in the middle of the monster section. There's like a shoot that you drop down in at about 1000 miles an hour - ah I didn't do it this trip - but I did sort of fakey my way up the thing!
Here's three clover leafs - one with three cradles and also a sweet little 2 & 3 foot figure 8 pool.
This is the street section in the foreground, behind that is the "reasonable pool" - to the right, behind that wall is that over-vert pool. Behind the reasonable pool is the monster pool. Behind that are the 3 clover leafs and the figure-8 pool. Behind that is the huge SMP skatepark facility. It's also a health club. Oh yeah - and behind me - and to the right is the competition section (pictures in next post).
More pictures to come - including the crew that blazed that day, some movies AND the competition section of the park!
