Looking to build some decks for myself and friends in my art studio. Any help with press ideas and how to make molds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey,

Welcome to the board.

I'd start out by looking through the threads and picking out all the info you can and ask questions from there.

There's quite a bit of info, you just got to look for it.

I'll start you off with my thread on this. I've got my press built now thanks to everyone on this board.

Josh,
Most people would agree, that I am free with info and advice....
However you will notice that about 3-4 times a month someone new posts here fishing for info, or trying to sell something.

This guy is brand new. 1 post. You gotta let them get their feet wet.

Definately new to posting. Not new to fishing. I have checked out this site for months and have read most of the threads. I decided to post because it seems you guys share more info on the pm side of things. Skinny, I saw your post on moldmaking and was interested in the link you were sending to others. Let me know if it is possible for me to check it out. Also, I have a few ideas on my own that I wouldn't mind running by you to see what you think. I'll keep dipping the feet until you guys are comfortable with the flow. Thanks for the start.

Thats a good point Milt,

I just remember how tough it is starting off from nothing.

I should be a bit more hesitant though. It's good when a person does things in trial and error, best way to learn

@fishbowl
I took down the page you are talking about the last time I re-worked my site.
It was just about how to cast the molds out of concrete.
Unfortunately I lost all the pics.

Keep looking!
Don't let my dumb ass discourage you.

Question about the concrete molds. I have a few ideas to make molds. When you pour the bookmatch mold to the first half, what can be used as a release agent between the two halfs? Thanks

I have been checking out some bottle jacks at www.mcmaster.com. Any advice from anyone who has used these. They seem like a good mechanical option.

I wouldn't use bottle jacks as you never know how much pressure you're you're producing and the right pressure is something you really want if you like to do things right.

If you wanna try them, take at least one with a working capacity of 50 tonnes.
